Usually when I say this, the reaction I get from most people when I talk about Kinesiology is “What IS that?”
The technical definition from the Australian Kinesiology Association is “Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s well-being. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual.” So what does that really mean? Some clients have described it as “Letting go of your baggage” or “A massage for the soul”, but the truth is, the response and what you get out of a kinesiology session varies for everyone.
From my understanding (and remember, I’m an advocate for, but haven’t studied, kinesiology), it uses muscle testing to work out if beliefs, chemicals/products, foods and various other things are or aren’t harmonious with the body. Then various techniques are used to correct the imbalance. It could be a simple matter of cutting out a food or product you use, speaking positive affirmations, working on acupressure points, aromatherapy, bach flower remedies or other methods, depending on what your situation calls for. I know you are still wondering what it is, and whether it can do anything for you, so I will describe my experience.
Do you have moments when you miss all of those ‘signs’ from the universe or your body, those little nudges to ‘slow down’ or ‘take a break’ or ‘change direction’ or ‘make a decision’? For me, Kinesiology helps to cut out what I call ‘static’ and listen to my intuition. I feel so much more grounded and my mind is clearer once I’ve had a session.
With every life-changing event I have had kinesiology sessions, from big work changes to getting married to pregnancy and motherhood and my sons have kinesiology sessions. Personal development and growth, and mental health are high on my priority list, so my sessions are important to me. With every session I feel closer to my true self and becoming the person I truly want to be – it helps me move on from the past, live in the happy, healthy present and accept the natural ebb and flow of life.
For me I was wanting to gain more clarity about life, and to learn about how my mind and body want s to work, how it s feeling, and what I can do to make it truly happy.
